In this week's Tuesday Double Feature we're highlighting the videos of 19-year-old LA based songwriter, Denyse Tontz. Splitting her time between singing and acting Tontz is a busy young woman. Her songs a catchy fun little tunes ripe with radio appeal.
Currently, she is shooting a feature film called “Earthfalls” along with completing work on her upcoming debut album.
Make sure to come back tomorrow for the interview she did with my thirteen year-old daughter Cassidy Inman.

Cassidy's Picks: May 10th / Hot Chelle Rae, Usher, Shakira
I know; music this mainstream isn't the usual BLS fair, but what can I say I love my daughter Cassidy.
Cass is 13 and her musical tastes are much more commercial-radio than my own, but I love that she is passionate about music. So of all the PR requests that I recently received , these are the artists that she wants me to cover. So Cass, this feature is for you.
Hot Chelle Rae - "Don't Say Goodnight"
The golden child of the 2011 AMA's, Hot Chelle Rae has been riding the fast track to stradom. Since releaseing their award-winning sophomore album Whatever these boys have been busy. Having spent most of 2012 and 2013 in the studio and on the road with a international headlining tour and supporting dates with Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber. The band has been making headway, bolstered by heavy radio play and high profile network TV appearances, this band is one of the hottest tickets around.
Usher - "Good Kisser"
A pop radio staple for years now, Usher is a less damaged Micheal Jackson for the 21st century. Highly respected by member of most genera in the music world and with a trail of hits behind him Usher is easily recognized as a leader in the industry. Busy, with his stint on the hit show The Voice and the release of his 8th studio album later this fall Usher is continuing to secure his place among musical royalty.
Shakira - "Dare(La,La,La)"
Multinational musical sensation Shakira is an accomplished artist in two languages. Hailing from Columbia, Shakira has raised to great heights in her adopted home with countless rewards and fans among both English and Spanish speakers. Having just released her latest, Self-titled, album to raze reviews this artist is a whirl wind of activity, from her appearances on The Voice, to the work with her non-profit. A phenomenally talented artist and a decent human being, Shikira is the whole package.

Tuesday Double Feature: Mr.Little Jeans "Good Mistake" & Kongos "Come With Me Now"
This week's Tuesday Double Feature is just unique enough to catch your interest, so take a second and enjoy.
Mr. Little Jeans - "Good Mistake"
Monica Birkenes, aka Mr. Little Jeans is celebrating the fresh release of her debut album Pocketknife on Harvest Records just this last month. The Norwegian singer creates a tangled syth-pop that's rich with hypnotically danceable groove-beats. Like an 80's inspired new wave dream this artist is sure to be quick to make a name for herself.
Kongos - "Come With Me Now"
The energetic rock of the Kongos is powerfully aggressive and ripe with the unique accents of according and slide guitar. Quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with, the band has seen recent wide spread exposure with radio attention, spots on network and cable TV, highlight in the Rolling Stones February feature "10 New Artists You Need to Know About" and with a song in the coveted slot of ITunes 'Single of the Week'. Spring and summer will see them continuing to support their Epic Records release Lunatic with a supporting slot with Alice and Chains and several festival dates including our own Sasquatch Festival.

Tuesday Double Feature: Monolo Panic 'Seasoned Noise" & Lost In Atlantis "Tek No"
From Star Wars to Tron I feel like I'm reliving the movie inspired fantasies of my childhood in this weeks Tuesday Double Feature. So join me and let your inner geek reign free.
Manolo Panic - "Seasoned Noise"
The broad styles of Swiss indie-rock band Manolo Panic reveals the eclectic background of its members. From Candy sweet pop to deep blues folk, the diverse sound of their music is sure to hold something for everyone. The band will be playing some date here in the States come this spring in support of their debut LP Helpless & Strange. Unfortunately the closest the bad will be playing is LA, but that doesn't stop you from checking our their wonderfully danceable music and this Star Wars themed video.
Lost In Atlantis - "Tek No"
The electro-pop of Arizona band Lost in Atlantis has a pulsing electric energy that's hard to denied. Hand picked for 2013's Vans Warped Tour, their stint on the national tour was cut short when the band was hit by a drunk driver in a near fatal car accident. Thankfully the band survived and now continue their push to stardom in support of their wildly energetic album Love Freak. For myself and a few others this video insights memories of the brilliant camp of the first Tron movie, which I myself saw as a double feature on a drive-in screen in a Southern California desert town.

Cure for the Mondays: American Authors - "Best Day of My Life"
American Authors - "Best Day of My Life"
When was the last time you played with your monsters.
It might not be too long before Brooklyn based American Authors could be a house hold name. Having been chosen as VH1's official "You Oughta Know" selection for February the band will have their music on TV, the web and incorporated into mobile and social platforms. If that wasn't enough, March should continue their momentum with the release of their debut album Oh, What A Life set for release on the 4th as well as appearances on some A-list talk shows. Not bad for a group of Music College dropouts.

"Cannibal Week" Tuesday Double Feature: Thee Oh Sees "Minotaur" & Mac Demarco "My Kind of Woman"
For "Cannibal Week" we gave over the reins of this week's Tuesday Double Feature to Jessica Boudreaux and Marc Swart of the Summer Cannibals. So check out their picks and enjoy.
Thee Oh Sees – Minotaur
Thee Oh Sees put on one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen last year at The Doug Fir and I’ve been obsessing over their records ever since. I picked this video because I love when bands aren’t afraid to be funny and don’t take themselves too seriously. I think that’s a really important part of making this kind of music. -Marc
Mac DeMarco – My Kind of Woman
I’m actually not a huge Mac DeMarco fan…not to say I don’t like his music, I just haven’t really dug into it that much. This video though. Man, I can’t get over it. I like one-shot music videos a lot, especially when the cinematography is rad like this. Plus he’s just great to watch, I love when he winks at the camera. -Jessica

"Cannibals Week" Cure for the Mondays: Sun Angle - "Raspberry"
Sun Angle - "Raspberry"
How many Sci-fi references can you identify?
Marius Libman is a genius! -Marc Swart of the Summer Cannibals
The kaleidoscope sound of Portland Oregon band the Sun Angle's music is filled with erratically lovely energy that morphs through a sonically psychedelic tapestry. Wildly rich and joyfully fanciful it's no wonder someone started a record label just to put their music out into the the world. This video was created by Sun Angle's Marius Libman.
In addition to their work with the Summer Cannibals Marc Swart and Jessica Boudreaux run the Portland records label New Moss Records. Started in 2013 to release the Sun Angle's debut LP Diamond Junk. It has now become the home label of the Cannibals as well.

Cure for the Mondays: The Hard Lessons - "Sit and Argue"
The Hard Lessons - "Sit and Argue"
With the release of their latest album Start What You Finished (which we at BLS names as on of the 5 most anticipated albums of early 2014)The Hard Lessons are proving that in fact, you can improve upon perfection even after 10 years. Their Blues-slathered rock'n'roll has a soul marked with the fingerprints of Detroit's rich musical heritage. With the release of the newest album we can only hope for a possible tour in the near future. So, if you haven't heard of this band yet, stop everything but breathing and check them out. It will be worth it, I swear.

Tuesday Double Feature: The Black Wisky Union "Little Lady London" & Celleste "Superstar (By Myself)"
This weeks Tuesday Double Feature has two videos staring strong leading ladies.
The Black Whisky Union - "Little Lady London"
The jazzy rock 'n' roll of LA based The Black Whisky Union was born out of a mutual love of music in a dive bar in Burbank. With a story like that how can you not expect something good out of this band. Set to release part 3 of their EP trilogy early in 2014, the band has great things ahead of them. To find out more check out our interview with the band.
Celleste - "Superstar(By Myself)"
The booming powerhouse of Montreal's Celleste delivers her bluesy pop with keen attention to her musical strengths. Following up last year's Join the Infestation album Celleste has released an EP of acoustic versions of some of Infestation's more defining tunes. In addition to her own music, Celleste is also hard at work with her own record label Mighty Music. Hopefully with the new year she'll be able to find time for touring.

Tuesday Double Feature: The Wolfgangs "Cannibal Family" & The Silver Shine "Angels To Some"
This weeks Tuesday Double feature I dedicate to my friend Aaron and his love of Psychobilly bands.
The Wolfgangs - "Cannibal Family"
The six cylinder speed of France's The Wolfgangs is the sultry psychobilly of graveyard rendezvous and late night drag races. Lead by the smoky sirens call of Cha' von Wolfgangs, this band has the hypnotic power of dancing cobras. Check out 2012's Shout With the Devil album on the Longneck Records label.
The Silver Shine - "Angels To Some"
The Bubapest based The Silver Shines have been very prolific since forming in 2004, having put out an album almost every year. Their 7th and latest album In the Middle of Nowhere, just saw release on the Wolverine Records label this last spring. No strangers to the Northwest, the band came through this past June as part of their short US tour, so here's hoping they'll comeback soon.

Tuesday Double Feature: The Hellfreaks "Godless Girl Fun" & The Nearly Deads "Never Look Back"
I thought it fitting with Halloween on Thursday that this weeks Double Feature be filled with Psycho-killers and zombies. So guard yourself because the sun is falling and the witching hour will be upon us way too soon.
The Hellfreaks - "Godless Girl Fun"
Uniquely unhinged, the Hungarian psychobilly band The Hellfreaks have a driving rock 'n' roll sound that plays a perfect vehicle to the siren's call of the sexy Shaky Sue. Constantly playing festivals and touring most of Europe, it's any wonder that they can find time to sleep. Their 2012 Circus of Shame is a playfully great rock 'n' roll album.
The Nearly Deads - "Never Look Back"
Nashville based grunge-pop outfit The Nearly Deads have made their name through several conquests and adulation from the likes of Billboard Magazine. Their latest E.P. Survival Guide is ripe with thick rock power and the polished pop sensibility to singer Theresa Jeane's vocals. Now if they can just survive the Apocalypse.

Cure for the Mondays: Kate Nash - "Fri-End?"
Kate Nash - "Fri-End?"
Here's something fun to get you through your Monday.
The UK's dynamic Kate Nash is a wonderfully energetic bundle of feminist power. Having branched out on her own, 2013 has been a great year for this young woman, having released her 3rd full-length album Girl Talk to fan applause and critical acclaim. Never one to take a breather, Nash has follow it up with the FRI-END? EP and is preparing for a North American tour. Though not quite scheduled, she'll be in our neighborhood and we can only hope she'll pop in sometime around December.

Tuesday Double Feature: Gambles "So I Cry Out" & Until The Ribbon Breaks "Pressure"
This weeks Tuesday Double Feature presents two different kinds of love stories that are as diverse as the musical styles that accompany them.
Gambles - "So I Cry Out"
The hauntingly rustic voice of Matthew Daniel Siskin is the weighty presence of Gambles. Birthed in the summer of 2012 from a need to address those unspoken things that linger in the shadow of all our lives, Siskin began to write the songs that would eventually become his debut album TRUST. Pressed on the Secretly Canadian label, the album is set for a US release on October 1st. I eagerly await this release and the honest songs held with in.
Until The Ribbon Breaks - "Pressure"
Like the soundtrack of a David Lynch film, the music of UK artist and producer Until The Ribbon Breaks has a uniquely compelling nature. Having released his debut EP A Taste of Silver, on Republic Records just this last week. URB is gearing up for a short but sweet US tour. With a high profile supporting slot with New Zealand artist Lorde, the closest he'll be getting to us is a sold out September 28th show in Seattle; but with any luck we can hope to see him some time in the near future.Keep your fingers crossed.

Tuesday Double Feature: Beth Hart "Boom Boom Bang Bang" & Imelda May "Mayhem"
Beth Hart - Boom Boom Bang Bang
The boldly sensual soul of Beth Hart's music has been perking up ears for over a decade now.Having released not one but two albums in the last year Hart is burning the candle strong and still making the amazing music she's known for. Having recently recorded with Buddy Guy and performed with Jeff Beck, Hart is quickly earning her title as a queen of the blues. Currently on an extensive European tour that will take her through fall and winter, we can only hope she'll be touring the states next.
Imelda May - Mayhem
The bluesy rockabilly saunter of Ireland's Imelda May has all the attitude of a switch blade yielding gun moll.
Her album Mayhem is ripe with a classically swaying jive that could be right out of a Russ Meyer's film.
Whatever Imelda May is doing, she must be doing it right cause later this month she'll be opening for Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at the Wrecking Ball Weekender in Kilkenny, Ireland. So keep your eyes open cause this girls going to make waves.

Tuesday Double Feature: James Blake "Retrograde" & First Aid Kit "Blue"
Ripe with a melancholy mystique, this week's Tuesday Double Feature is filled with songs that swim through mournfully organic music and weep beautifully produced melodies.Think the beauty of foreign films with out all the confusing plot twists.
James Blake - "Retrograde"
James Blake croons mournfully beautiful dirges that pull at the heart strings in a way that only marrow scraping pain can do. Blake, like Calvin Harris is one of the British electronic Maestros who has emerged the last few years that melds electronica with compelling songwriter lyrics to create songs with powerful depth and artistic complexity. He recently swung through town in support of his sophomore album Overgrown, released earlier this spring. If you weren't able to catch him, here's to hoping he'll find his way back soon.
First Aid Kit - "Blue"
The sweetly organic folk harmonies of First Aid Kit are the loving fruit of Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg. Knitted together like ivy vines upon softly curved musical trellises, the complimenting harmonies of the Söderberg sisters make for lovely tunes. Still beaming from the success of last years release of the The Lion's Roar album, the ladies will spend their summer seeing the UK and parts of Europe.

Still beaming from the success of last years release of the The Lion's Roar album, the ladies will spend their summer seeing the UK and parts of Europe.

Cure for the Mondays: Best Coast - "The Only Place"
Best Coast - "The Only Place"
Summertime dreams for the better weather.
The Southern California duo Best Coast have been in a perpetual state of movement since their 2010 debut release of Crazy For You. With the highly praised follow up album The Only Place in 2012 and endless touring including a recent stent with Green Day, they continue to build an amazingly faithful fan base. In their continuous mission to spread their infectious energy this spring and summer hold a headlining tour and the release of an EP with all new material. Right now they don't have any shows scheduled in the NW but we can only hope that the summer months might still hold a show for us.
